CMD valves are constructed of high quality H13 tool steel. This steel, while wear resistant, has an exceptional ability to absorb twisting and bending without fracturing.
All CMD ring valves are first through hardened, and then nitride case hardened to provide high wear resistance.
Ring geometry is designed for high strength and low edge stress concentration to eliminate the possibility of cracking. The tapered front seat of the valve body and generous radii reduce stress concentrations making a strong valve body which is even more resistant to fracturing.
CMD valves are designed to process heat sensitive polymers without excessive sheer to the material. All sharp edges and corners are rounded off, and the flow surfaces of the valve assembly are highly polished.
Ring valves are offered in a variety of compressions (low, medium, or high) to specifically suit customer's molding needs.
The sealing surfaces of the valve are precision ground to assure exact size and concentricity so the valve will shut off and seal with perfection.
In addition to our standard H13 valves, we also offer valves made of extremely wear resistant CPM 9V. This special steel, when heat treated and nitride case hardened, provides unparalleled wear resistance for glass filled applications.
For larger valves that demand extreme wear resistance, CMD recommends its Silver Bullet hard faced valve assembly. This valve has high wear resistance alloys that are welded into the contact surfaces of the valve assembly.
